Type Locality and Naming

Along the Yatak stream, northern slope of the N. Nuratau ridge. P.N. Podkopaev et al. in 1961 (1964). Stratotype on the right bank of the Kurukulsay River.

Synonym: Yatak Suite, Ятакская св.


Lithology and Thickness

The section is represented by scattered fragments of carbonate rocks, consisting of micritic, massive, polydetrital-algal gray and dark-gray limestones, interbedded with clayey nodular limestones

Regional extent

Fossils

Containing stromatoporoids - Ecclimadictyon cf. fastiguatum Nich., Parastriatopora sp. and others, tabulates - Syringopora ex gr. fascicularis, S. sp. (ex gr. ferganensis) Fom. and others, brachiopods - Conchidium sp. and others of the Late Wenlock-Pridoli.


Age 

P.N. Podkopaev et al. (1964) considered the age of the suite Ludlovian; I.A. Kim et al. (1990) - late Silurian; Z.M. Abdurazimova et al. (1996) in the Yatak Fm include all upper Wenlock-Pridoli carbonate deposits (including boulders and fragments), developed on the northern slope of the S. Nuratau ridge (460).
